Did you know the first ever cushion foundation was launched by IOPE in 2008? It was an immediate success because of its formulation and practicality. Ever since then, the history has been rewritten.
I have a love-hate relationship with cushion foundations because they are easy to apply on the go and save space in my makeup bag. However, some of them come with a high price tag which can be a major turn-off for makeup lovers on a budget. Being a budget beauty myself, I have tried and tested many cushion foundations so you don’t have to. In this blog post, I will introduce you to the four best and most affordable cushion foundations to try in 2024. Whether you’re a makeup newbie or a beauty pro, these cushion foundations will impress. Let’s dive in!
Hanasui Serum Cushion
RM24.90 On Shopee

Hanasui is an Indonesia-based beauty brand and halal certified. Their serum cushion came in 10 shades and mine is in 01 Light. The shade selection caters to South East Asian skin so the undertone is more yellow/olive. While marketed for dry skin and has a natural dewy finish, it feels weightless on my oily skin and has high coverage. The cushion puff also spread the foundation evenly and barely left a cushion mark. The pink packaging catches the eyes and is a nice touch to your makeup vanity!
Wardah Colorfit Perfect Glow Cushion
RM28 On Shopee

This cushion foundation is always sold out in Watsons or Guardian so that says a lot about its popularity. It has medium coverage similar to Hanasui, it has a natural dewy look. I have to prep and exfoliate my skin properly before using this otherwise it clings on dry areas. However, bear in my we all have different skin conditions as I have seen it works well on other users.
Obsess Treatment Cushion Foundation
RM59 On Shopee

If you are into beauty, you must have heard of this brand at least once. It’s Malaysian made and its cushion foundation is of the most well-known products in the nation. As its name suggests, it has skin-loving ingredients like squalane to prevent clogged pores and antioxidants such as vitamin A & E. Plus it can help reduce skin inflammations and other skin concerns with Geranium oil. I don’t need to apply a lot since it has high coverage and lasts all day long.
Somethinc Hooman Breathable UV Cushion Cover SPF35 PA++++
RM70.80 On Shopee

I was able to try this beauty gem a few weeks back and it has been in my makeup bag since! The product boasts of being the first anti-bacterial mesh instead of the traditional cushion sponge and is formulated to accommodate our humid, tropical weather. Having medium to full coverage and with a matte finish, I only need to dust off a minimum amount of powder to set it in place properly. They also have cushion foundation options for dry skin so there’s something for everyone!
Each of the four cushion foundations for Asian skin discussed in this post offers something unique, whether it’s a high level of coverage, skincare benefits, or a dewy finish. I encourage you to read through the features, pros, and cons of each product and consider your own skin type and preferences before making a purchase.
Remember, trying new makeup products is all about experimentation and finding what works best for you. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different foundations or layer them with other products to achieve your desired look.
